The Oil & Gas industry has advanced the role of women into senior level executive positions as more women become interested in engineering careers and as major industry players have provided more professional development programmes for women. It is a welcome evolution that is still a long way to come on the African continent.

The two-day congress aims to develop an agenda for policy advocacy and strategy on “Women in Oil & Gas ” as part of the broader concern about the advancement of the role of women into senior level executive positions and provide more professional development programmes for women in the oil & Gas industry on the African continent. The discussion will take place against the background of the 21st century challenges such as having to overcome an emerging shortage of petroleum engineers and fostering the technological innovations required to harvest increasingly tough-to-access hydrocarbon reservoirs.
